The Indonesia Women’s Run (“IWR”) is the 1st Indonesia Road Running race where all the participants are women and girls.

Indonesia Women’s Run was initially held in commemoration of International Women’s Day which is celebrated on the 8th of March every year. It is a day when we celebrate the amazing social, cultural, economic and political achievements of women – while also campaigning for greater progress towards gender equality. Indonesia Women’s Run has been empowering women to live great through running.

The Indonesia Women's Run was first held on March 8, 2020. However, in 2021 it could not be held due to the spread of the COVID-19 virus, as an alternative it was held virtually and still adhered to health protocols. In 2022, the Covid pandemic will begin to subside, but activities involving large crowds are still not permitted, so a group run is being held with a limited number of participants of 100 people.

In 2023, IWR can finally be held again after the end of the pandemic, on March 12, 2023, at PIK 2, and in Bandung on May 14, 2023, taking place at Summarecon Mall Bandung leveraging Mother’s Day celebration and introducing a new category which allowed Male runners to participate in the 20K team Mixed Duo category. 20K team Mixed Duo is a category where male and female runners team up a team to run a 10K distance where they have to start and reach the finish line together. The idea behind the 20K team Mixed Duo category was to let the husband/partner or male runner friend support their wife/partner and female runner to start and maintain a healthy lifestyle and involve family bonding by joining sports events.

In 2024, IWR evolved and was held in April to commemorate the birth of RA Kartini, a hero who fought for women's emancipation in Indonesia. In the year 2025, the Indonesia Women’s Run will be held for the 6th edition and will continue to be held to encourage women and girls throughout Indonesia.
